19/11/2025How is AI and Technology Affecting Recruitment
The world of AI is changing fast, and recruitment is one of the areas that is most affected by this. A recent study has found that job seekers are losing trust in recruitment practices, following the increased use of AI.
45% of UK jobseekers now trust the hiring process less than they did a year ago, with 40% linking this to the rise in AI. The survey was carried out by Greenhouse, interviewing 4,136 people across the UK, Ireland and Germany.
More than half of jobseekers say they have encountered fake job adverts in the last year, with around a third finding it harder to secure interviews or roles.
Have you experienced this as part of your job search?
Although AI can play a vital, and valuable, role in recruitment, as this report shows it can undermine confidence in processes, and lead to dissatisfaction by job seekers. This in turn can make people reluctant to apply for roles, hence making it harder to secure employment.
Prompt response times to applications, current and refreshed adverts, and manual processes are tools being adopted by companies to increase confidence.
How can AI support your job search?
For recruiters, AI brings many benefits to recruitment processes, including streamlining applications, tailoring adverts and job requirements, and filtering applicants.
As a job seeker, how can AI support you in your search for work? There are several platforms that can provide support to identify your skills, search for roles and tailor your documentation.
Many job seekers us AI to help with areas such as interview preparation, filtering available roles, and tailoring your documentation towards the role.
AI should not be used to write CVs or documentation, however it can be a useful tool to prompt you for key information to include, or to inspire your thought processes.
Remember employers will be able to tell when AI has been used; it is often generic and lacks uniqueness. It is essential to ensure that your documentation is authentic, and has been written and tailored by you.
Remember to maintain a consistent message across all documentation, including your CV, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles. Keep your skills and achievements consistent, and make sure all platforms reflect your style and personality.
